## About This Site

NYC Islands (https://www.nycislands.com) is a comprehensive reference resource documenting the islands of New York City and New York Harbor. The site covers the history, culture, ecology, and present-day status of over 40 named islands across the five boroughs and surrounding waters. Each island has a dedicated page with detailed historical narratives, community organizations, and curated external resources (articles, books, and archival documents).

The site is intended as an authoritative educational and research hub for students, historians, urban explorers, and curious New Yorkers. The site was developed by Pace University faculty Dr. Melanie DuPuis and Dr. Jonathan W. Williams in collaboration with undergraduate and graduate students.
