Throughout the 19th century, the Narrows between Hart Island and City Island, including the Blauzes, were renowned sportsmen’s grounds, especially for wild duck hunting. Robert Bolton’s 1848 “History of Westchester County” noted that flocks of ducks regularly frequented the area, making it an important local hunting site. The islets remain a destination for kayakers and anglers today, although their rocky, treeless nature means they remain uninhabited.
